Hey everyone! I’m comin’ atcha today with the lowdown on a couple of new power features inside of Serum. These are render and resample, and they were just released in a recent version 1.06b8, so make sure you have the freshest install of Serum if you want to check these out.
These are complete game changers as far as sound design and construction of wavetables. They totally simplify and streamline the process of creating insane sounds, and what you’re going to be able to do with these is have a single oscillator – a single wavetable – that can now sound as complex and processed as the entire output of Serum.
You can find these new features under the Menu, where you’ll see Render OSC A Warp and Render OSC B Warp. There are also the resample ones, but we’ll tackle those in a minute.
The release notes for version 1.06b8 say “MENU Render OSC a/b takes the current Wavetable frame and creates 256 frames spanning 0-100% of the Warp knob”.
If you jet back up to the Menu, you’ll see Resample to OSC A and Resample to OSC B.
The release notes say “MENU Resample to Osc A/B: “plays” a note of the preset for 1 bar, captures, renders to RAM, and imports as wavetable.
